My First Static Apnea Competition | Breath Hold, Red Card & Second Chances 😅🫁 #freediving

I entered my first ever static breath hold competition… and got disqualified 😅 A classic “red card” for missing the surface protocol by just 1.5 seconds. But that wasn’t the end of the story.
I only signed up for one day of the AIDA freediving competition — just for experience. But after the DQ, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. Should I try again? Or walk away? By lunch time, I thought: I can’t end on a red card. So I went for round two 💪
In static apnea, your mind can be your best friend or worst enemy. I used a Yoga Nidra track by Ally Boothroyd to calm my thoughts — not to follow her breathing, but just to listen, so I didn’t waste oxygen overthinking. Sometimes I do body scans instead: “relax the forehead… relax the eyes…”
This journey was all about mindset, learning, and my apnea super power – stubbornness! Would love to hear how you stay calm during your own breath holds 👇
Watch to the end and subscribe for more freediving adventures 🌊
